I Want it My Way!

Username: I’m quite keen on this one. I’ve seen it on the pending list getting closer and closer to the next review I have to do and I’ve been looking forward to it. Definitely appeals to me, and I’m not sure why! (5/5)

Title: Want it your way indeed eh? Well, sure I think it fits with not only your template but the odd reference in your diary. I’m not sure it’s hugely profound, but I don’t suppose it has to be. (4/5)

First Sight: When I first saw your diary I changed my screen size so I didn’t have to scroll from left to right all the time, I’m just lazy like that! I liked all the colours of it, so far so good. Not sure I like the picture, but I see the point it is trying to make,(partly because it says it above your entry!) and that is all okay. It seems to be looking quite neat and tidy – despite the broken dish! Yeah, not bad first impression I’m not put off just yet! (8/10)

Your Sacrifice: Your archive page is a Diaryland template, you should get a different template for the older pages as well, not sure if one came with your design or not – but it doesn’t look all too nice to have such a vast contrasting design. You don’t update daily, and there are quite a few gaps – but it’s not too bad. (I quite like your choice of title on this page) (5/8)

Sparkling Diamond: Okay, the design is mainly a brown sort of colour with a woman smashing dishes and the phrase ‘Sometimes things don’t go as planned’. It’s not wonderful, but it’s nice enough – design credit goes to Designs by Kat. The navigation is all to the right hand side of the page, which makes it look quite tidy. I didn’t like that the links were things like ‘Crash, Smash, Shattered’ - I’d rather know what the links were taking me to straight away without having to hover my mouse over it. But that’s just personal preference, and I understand that it matches in with the template. As mentioned before I’m not too sure if I like the picture, but it is making a point - and I think it goes okay with some of your entries so I’m not going to complain too much. Pretty much thought this was okay, nothing exciting or overly amazing, but it looks clear and organised. I liked the phrase ‘Sometimes things don’t go as planned’. The only thing that really annoyed me was the fact I had to change my screen size to fit everything on - or I would of been scrolling the whole time from left to right and that annoys me even more! (20/25)

Guestbook: Argh, I’m blind! That pink is very… um… bright? Well I’m not sure about brown and pink combined – but I’ll give you one thing, it’s unforgettable. Appears to be working and looks simple enough … (2/2)

Readability: All fine. Good font size, colour and face. As long as I don’t try to read your Guestbook again I don’t think I’m going to have to strain my eyes today!! (5/5)

The Love: Well I almost didn’t start right from the beginning, I just happened to glance and see the link though. Make that a bit more clear… However from starting right at the beginning I instantly was taken in with your diary.

It’s a shame you don’t like snow, like you said in this entry, I love it - but I can see you were less then impressed! But I completely understood about not wanting to get up and go to work... sometimes the thought is less then appealing for most of us.

You seem to talk with a lot of enthusiasm especially about the film Chicago, I can’t say I saw the huge appeal of it - but after reading that entry I wanted to see it again just because you made it sound so worth it!! I understood where you were coming from in this entry totally - Matthew McConaughey , makes any film worth watching!

It’s strange because your diary can be a bit of a day-log, and it’s not even something I can relate to, but I couldn’t stop reading... I loved your sense of humour and your personality that came through in most entries. Your entries weren’t all too long, most of the time they were very short and to the point - but that just added to the appeal, your diary has a very ‘more-ish’ quality.

You had more emotional entries too, like this one. Talking about Jake, and how you hadn’t been in love for a while now... It had an air of sadness about it, despite you not really saying much - it was a lovely entry which seemed incredibly heartfelt. I loved that about your diary, you tend to just say what you’re thinking/feeling/doing in a very blunt manner, it makes reading it a really breeze, and I had got through so many entries barely noticing I was quickly running out of entries!!

You seemed to get lost in a thought in this entry. It was nice to see you develop your thought in the actual entry (about changing one event in your life). Again, when you write more emotional entries it does have that hint of sadness to it - you seem to manage to include emotions without trying to or making it painfully obvious - which makes a change.

I couldn’t believe that Jake wouldn’t help out money-wise... I’m really sorry you had to cope with it all yourself... If it helps I was scowling at his name when I read it... and partly wishing he’d just turn around and help....Ah, I notice you took the quiz I made... Hmm - at least it wasn’t totally wrong!

Basically, I loved your diary. I can’t explain why, but I hope you don’t change one single thing about your writing style. Not only did I think you were interesting, you had fun with your entries - and I really want to read your next entry. I surprised myself to be honest! I think your diary is brilliant, and despite me not really being able to relate to your actual situation - you explain everything well. I’d love to see you join something like Monthly Rant, it’s only just started but getting your opinions on topics, I think would be a great read too. (50/50)

Grammar: Odd spelling mistakes, odd typos – nothing hugely wrong though. (8/10)

Glitter: Okay you have a cast, photos (cute kids!), rings and reviews… Not all too much I’m afraid. I’d be interested to see a Bio, 101 Facts (or however many you get time to do!)… I think there’s a lot of extras you could add to your page to make it a bit more interesting. Even if you make a quizzes page and include all the results from the ones you have taken instead of having it in individual entries. Perhaps a list of your all time favourite movies? books? I’m not sure, whatever takes your fancy I suppose! (7/15)

Extra Credit: Okay, lots and lots. 1 because it’s the highest content score I’ve ever given, 1 for being the highest score overall I’ve ever given, 1 because I couldn’t stop reading your diary, 1 because of your complete dedication to Reality TV(!), 1 for great taste in films, 1 for taking a quiz I made and 2 because I really liked you! (7/5)

Lasting Impression: Incredibly good lasting impression, I will definitely remember this diary – I’m left waiting for the next entry, and wishing you had a few more extras, but otherwise I’m happy! (9/10)

Will I Come Back?: You are being added to my ‘Worth Reading’ Page as we speak. I will definitely come back, no question in my mind. (10/10)

Total: 140/160

Number of Entries Read:All of them.

Favorite Entry: This one… Men can be incredibly annoying I’d have to agree…

Favorite Quote: ”I think the silence is making me tired. My body is yearning for bed while my mind wants to be awake alone for once. I think my body will win.”

Comments: Well, I’ve never been known for giving high scores, but your diary was completely appealing to me. I’ve never given a perfect content score before, and given very few over 40 at all… I love your writing style, and I really hope you add some more extras soon. Thanks for requesting a review.
