Caerydd

The only one who knows what it is to burn…

Username: Okay well, it wouldn’t catch my eye – nothing stands out about it to me. But, you explain why you have it… The name stems from the welsh word 'Caerdydd', and is the way the welsh spell 'Cardiff', which happens to be their main city. I like the look of the word, but dropped the first d. I’ve not seen anybody actually explain their username, and on further reading – I thought it was quite a nice reason to have it. (3/5)

Title: I’m partial as I like the song, well not as much as I used to – but I’m still keen on it. It’s okay, I like the lyrics that you’ve chosen for the title, they are simple enough but have that slight edge which is always nice. Not sure how well it goes with the whole image your template is based around – but yeah – otherwise I’m keen on it. (4/5)

First Sight: Story never ends eh? Well… Sure I liked that, could see it being quite fitting. The image was actually a really nice change, I liked that it wasn’t exactly clear-cut. It’s not something I’d base a template around, but judging on initial reaction I was quite impressed. It’s very white which reminds me a little too much of hospitals, but I honestly don’t think any other colour would of suited it as well. However I did notice I’m going to have to scroll across the page as well as down… I’m probably just way too lazy ! (7/10)

Your Sacrifice: Okay so you’ve had the diary ages so that’s credit in itself, as for updating - It’s not everyday – but most days, and there are multiples to compensate for the odd lacking. Just looking at your Archives page made me wonder where I was to begin! (6/8)

Sparkling Diamond: Well you designed it all yourself, and so considering that it’s all very organised. The navigation is all down the right hand side, even split into handy little categories for the reader… always great. I liked the quote to the left of the image, simple yet appealing for unknown reasons to me. The image itself I mentioned a little bit already, it is nice enough – it doesn’t strike my attention (though perhaps a little bit of fear as the sword looks rather menacing) … On the left hand side it looks like one of those arty little note-books everyone but me seems to own as I’m not artistic enough to doodle, which is kind of nice and adds a real personal touch to the diary. I loved how you explained where everything came from, what made you design it that way – you left nothing that couldn’t be understood, and so I wasn’t really left in any confusion about what you were thinking about it all. Bad review in the past concerning a white background? Hmm… Well although it is (As I said) a little bit too hospital like for me to personally have – I think it works well. It certainly makes everything look really clear, uncluttered and organised. I’m not sure what other colours I could suggest you changing it to, so if I can’t find how I’d improve it, surely it must be good as it is ? However with every positive is usually a little negative. I’m lazy, and I don’t like scrolling from side to side, I barely like scrolling down… Anyway that made me frown but then I got distracted by all the extras (see Glitter section) and probably shiny things so the scrolling didn’t bother me too much… I could of changed how big my screen was but then the writing was too small, Argh I’m fussy – anyway I shouldn’t worry, I liked the design it was fun and certainly original. (22/25)

Guestbook: Yep, all very nice – organised and working. (2/2)

Readability: Hmm, Perhaps I’m going blind, the font was a little small, and the links down the right hand side were really close together so it made them less noticeable… Otherwise though font face and colour were all okay. (3/5)

The Love: Okay, so many many entries – so I’m really sorry if I misunderstand something along the way as I didn’t read every single entry that might of led up to an event… Okay with that out of the way, on with the review…

Firstly I have to say… in this entry I felt really sorry for you, they seemed like such idiots, but you made me laugh when I read… "Caerydd: .....like I thought....incoherency" … It’s a shame they probably didn’t understand it. Everyone gets bugged by random people online, and it does get extremely tedious, and often very annoying, so at least you could turn this horrific event into a funny, if not a tad disturbing entry…

Sometimes your writing can be incredibly complex, and at others the simplicity of the humour just completely takes over. It’s a brilliant mix, and is very compelling to keep reading. Often your opinions are made very clear, like in this entry, regarding threesomes and if it is the only way to get someone back you’re better off without.

For the most part I did agree with your opinions, and I loved your theories page. It was a nice addition, and certainly made for a good read.

I think you are probably aware, and don’t need to be told that you have a very natural talent for writing, there’s a quality that is hard to describe exactly that just makes your entries very ‘more-ish’. My only problem is I do have a short attention span at times, and the vast majority of your entries were so long and so descriptive that I sometimes started to trail off if there wasn’t something I was passionate about in the middle of it. This is, though just down to personal taste, and obviously some entries are going to be more interesting to me then others.

Although I couldn’t always relate to you, that didn’t seem to really matter, as it wasn’t just a day-log. You include lots of thought and feeling into most entries, and I love the fact that your humour and personality come through. It really feels like I know a lot about you, despite obviously never having talked to you. I think that’s a great thing to be able to achieve, and I really wish I could stop sounding so ‘happy happy’ in this review – but it was such a refreshing read.

The last entry that I want to make a reference to, was this one it seemed like a really heart-felt entry, which I did actually completely understand. It is difficult not to snap at people, despite knowing it isn’t always their fault. It was a simple entry – which although did involve what had been happening, wasn’t just a list of events.

Overall, I thought your content was pretty good, I haven’t had so little negative to say in any of my other reviews. My main problem, was despite it being a fun read, an interesting one – I’m just not sure if I’ll return. While I was there it was great, and I did want to read more entries then I actually got time to… It’s just one of those things. Excuse the really poor example, Once you open a packet of biscuits – if you keep the packet right there, you can get through all of them without even noticing… But if you’d take the packet away after eating just two… You probably wouldn’t be all too fussed. Eugh, I hate the example – but it works in this case. It’s all very nice… Just where’s that little bit extra to make me come back??

I’m really sorry I haven’t been very productive with this review, Of course it’s nice to get compliments but I suppose constructive criticism is more practical – Hmm, just don’t change. I like that you write for yourself and not to impress others… Perhaps it’s just me, I seem incapable of deciding exactly what qualifies as a perfect diary content.

Oh, final thing, Hope things work out okay in regards to your last entry… (45/50)

Grammar: Nothing that hugely annoyed me. Though sometimes I really wished you would break up some of the really long paragraphs of yours. Also a few minor blips, but as is implied, they weren’t anything that really bugged me or distracted from your entries. (7/10)

Glitter: There’s loads of extras, including a few I hadn’t seen before. All that were really interesting and well thought out. I loved how much effort you seem to of put into everything, I mean maybe it has built up over time, but – it looks great. I’m not sure what I’d have left to suggest you add… You do everything in an incredibly amount of detail. My only problem when diaries have this many extras is that it’s easy to distract from your actual entries. It may seem petty, but it is a diary, and although it’s nice to have extras, it is a diary ultimately, so don’t take the focus away from your actual entries. (14/15)

Extra Credit: 3 for it being self design, 1 for it being so organised, 1 for everything being in so much detail and 1 because I liked the sound of you… I need to criticize something already, I’m feeling too nice. (6/5)

Lasting Impression: Yeah well, the design was impressive, the content was lovely – overall it was a good read. Nothing jumped out at me which is screaming ‘Remember me’ but I think I might anyway. Everything was of a really high quality. (8/10)

Will I Come Back?: I’m torn as to whether I’m going to be adding you to my ‘Worth Reading’ page (Favourites)… I definitely think I’ll come back. Especially with the last entry being what it was… I’m just trying to work out how frequently. (7/10)

Total: 134/160

Number of Entries Read: There were so many, I’d love to of said All of them but it would be simply impossible. However I read quite a few months worth, and skipped back to a few earlier ones.

Favorite Entry: This entry

Favorite Quote:"In many ways I prefer giving to recieving. It's more satisfying, less selfish, and I just love the feeling I get from seeing that person smile. A simple gift out of the blue can mean so much to someone, and it is worth it to know that you made someone smile. Whoever it is. Gifts that are almost spontaneous are the most fun to give. They are without motive beyond a simple 'Oooh, I should get that for So-and-so.' "

Comments: I’m curious as to why you requested a review from me. Perhaps just because I’ve been doing reviews relatively quickly? I’m not sure. However, all in all I’m glad you did. It was an interesting read. And I think… (can’t promise…) but I think you just got my highest score that I’ve given out – I wouldn’t be at all surprised.
