Cruciatus

//Cruciatus V7.0~Slytherin//

Username: Well I have never read Harry Potter, and the film basically consisted of me falling asleep in it, so this name had absolutely no meaning to me. But I like that you picked something after thinking about it, I even like that it’s apparently the name of some curse. Basically, I’m letting you off the fact I didn’t have a clue what you were going on about with it – because you explained it all, and I’m probably the only one completely ignorant towards it. (4/5)

Title: Surely there is something better out there? Even just your username would be better. It’s terrible, and just looks like you haven’t bothered in the slightest. Perhaps try a quote or something … seen as you like Harry Potter so much… The quote above your entry (‘Pick me up’…etc) would be lovely as your title. (1/5)

First Sight: Hmm, It basically is one of those awkward moments when something you are very ‘into’, I’m just not. So, yes I kind of sighed when I saw the layout. Never fear I will try and put my own personal taste of films/books aside for this review. It’s too white for my liking, reminds me of hospitals. There’s a terrible cat in the corner too… But, yes, it all looks pretty clear and I don’t feel like I’m going to get a headache looking at your design. Very simplistic and organised – both good things in my mind. Just looks a little bland, plus that kid always looks like he’s staring at me, it’s a bit creepy. (5/10)

Your Sacrifice: Minor panic when all your older entries didn’t seem to be there and I thought I was reviewing three entries. The wonders of scrolling enabled me to find your links to the previous months though… Perhaps move where those links are? It’s not all too clear. But anyway, you update most days, few gaps but not many… and you have plenty of multiples. Well done, hope it stays that way. (7/8)

Sparkling Diamond: Well done on the design, it is yours – and I was getting ready to credit someone else as I saw a design link, but that just took me to the explanation. I am partial to self-designed layouts, I think it adds a more personal touch and just that something extra that a template doesn’t. Okay, now the negative. It’s too white, it makes it look bland. Sadly for you, I’m not a Harry Potter fan, so according to your information at the bottom of the page, the kid in the picture is called Draco… (I do apologise if that’s wrong, let me know…) but basically the picture is weird, his eyes follow you everywhere… *shudder*.

So yeah basically, it’s a simple design – and probably appealing to fans, I’m just not one of them. I like the colour scheme, the navigation button was simple but kept all your links organised which was nice. I love the simplicity of this design, it makes it look very professional. Basically, yeah well done on it all – Shame you couldn’t of been a bit luckier with your reviewer… Clash of interests I suppose. Ooh, and please don’t be offended, but the little cat thing is really overly-done now… I think it looks a bit tacky on an otherwise nice design. (19/25)

Guestbook: Organised, clear – matches in. (2/2)

Readability: Good, can’t complain. Font is big enough, clear enough and not a blinding colour. (5/5)

The Love: Well, dived straight into the entries only to be surrounded by apparently quite a lot of emotions. I did like this entry, just as I related to it quite a bit. I enjoyed reading about how you saw things, and the way you explained it all was very clear. I have felt exactly the same way as you show that you do, the being so comfortable with someone else that it’s not always necessary to be dressed-up for them.

I was also quite keen on this . The way you just said quite simply that things don’t always turn out how you think they will – was interesting, and I’m glad you went on to explain how that was applicable to you. I have to admit that is one thing I did truly love about your diary – if you say something – you back it up with a reason!! Thankfully! I love explanations behind things and seeing how that relates to you in real life, which I completely got with your entries.

I’m a bit torn, as on the one hand, I got by with your entries – they weren’t riveting, but they were nice… and well written. Then, I came across a few really dull day-log type entries, which everyone has – so I’m not being completely judgmental… All in all, It was a bit of a bumpy read. Though one thing remained consistent throughout – the effort put in.

I just want to bring special reference to this lyrics page. At first sight, I sighed and started scrolling down with no intention of reading the lyrics… I’m completely honest in that respect – Lyrics are lovely to you personally, and I can re-read any that I post myself … but someone else – pah - I get bored… However, you did something I haven’t seen before. You explained why they were important to you. This made me back up and actually re-read some of the lyrics (I confess still not every line, but the majority). I thought it was a lovely idea, and added the personal touch often missing from just putting lyrics up. I’m impressed!

Oh and you get bonus points from me seen as you liked Pirates of the Caribbean. I Love that movie… Hmm, I’ve gone off track.

You mentioned feeling bad about giving a negative review as you know how they can get taken to heart, which I did understand. I put off even considering having my diary reviewed for the longest time, as – well, I didn’t want the negative feedback. It was sweet to know you actually care about others feelings (even if it was only in brief passing!), People forget how much effort goes into reviewing a diary so if they get negative comments they tend to just forget everything else. Ah well, basically I’m rambling round the point, which was that I liked that you seemed to care quite a bit, and didn’t try to be too hurtful!

Your relationship sounds bumpy – and hard work, but it certainly seems to pay off so I wish you all the luck with that. It was actually nice to read a diary when the whole basis of a relationship wasn’t “I like him, but you know he likes my best friend, I hate her now, ‘Cos I like him”… A mature(in places!) but fun relationship to read about!! At last!! And I’m sorry he didn’t get you a card... men they can’t be helped! Hmm, anyway…

Overall, I found it hard to relate to most things you were saying and the day-log sometimes got a little dull, but otherwise it was a pleasant read. I love how many emotions you involve in your writing, and you do sound like a lovely person. Your personality comes across in your entries fantastically, I’m just at a loss on how to score it! (40/50)

Grammar : Hmm odd slips here and there, but I’m not going to fuss, I’m feeling extremely ‘un-fussy’ right now. (8/10)

Glitter: Plenty of extras, and silly entries that aren’t really entries – but aren’t really extras either (EG :Friday Five) . Lots of effort, lots of nice things for me to be happily distracted by, but not too many to take-away from your actual entries. I’d be interested to see you take part in Monthly Rants actually. It’s only just started up, but looks quite good, and your opinions would be a nice read. (13/15)

Extra Credit: Self design is worth 3 points… and if I’m led to believe your bio, you have a tattoo… It sounds cute and so I’m giving out an extra point for that. Yes it’s biased and has very little to do with your diary content, but… you can always take the point away yourself if you don’t approve of it. (4/5)

Lasting Impression: I don’t think we had enough in common for me to really keep this diary in mind. I was impressed by the amount of effort that went into your diary; I’m just not sure it will stick in my mind. (4/10)

Will I Come Back? : Perhaps. Good old curiosity and all that. But not frequently, and only if the password stayed the same obviously. (4/10)

Total: 116/160

Number of Entries Read: Well I went through all of them, but a few day-log ones I skim read.

Favorite Entry: This one… Did I hear news about having another tattoo done… Ooh…

Favorite Quote: Well, I’m not sitting here typing my favourite quotes out. You disabled any way in which I can copy & paste - which annoyed me to no end - so you lose out on your quotes bit of this review.

Comments: Okay, I have a few comments – so here goes…
1) Please don’t take the score to heart, It was your design not your content that let you down – and the only reason your design didn’t do as well is because of personal differences…
2)Well you could do with allowing people to at least highlight parts of your page. I’ve disabled right-click on my page too, so it’s not that I don’t understand why you would do that… But to get rid of clicking altogether seems a little extreme. I suppose it is a locked diary though – so maybe it doesn’t matter as much.
And finally 3) Yours is a perfectly nice diary – it just didn’t strike a chord with me that’s all… Hope you keep it up.
